System Verification Engineer – Aerospace

Due to ongoing expansion, Alten Ltd is looking for several System Verification Engineers to join our team in Derby within the Aerospace sector. This is a fantastic chance to join a fast growing company with strong core values of; Accountability, Integrity and Service.

Your new role:

As a System Verification Engineer you be one of our quality consultants performing on one of our major engineering projects in the UK. You will also be contributing to our development and growth within the Aerospace industry.

As a System Verification Engineer your main responsibilities will be:

  • Analyse control sub-system requirements for testability (verification of the integrated ‘black box’ control system … not component or software verification)
  • Allocate requirements against test vehicles defined in the verification test plan.
  • Allocate system requirements to Test Subjects and Test Groups (test planning).
  • Develop and review tests that will provide evidence to prove that the sub-system requirements are satisfied.
  • Execute testing in remote test rigs.
  • Analyse verification test results against requirements and determine results against Test Plan definitions.
  • Conduct targeted interactive testing to support Problem Investigation and demonstration of problem resolution
  • Capture observations and work with Control System Designers to record identified issues in configured problem reports
  • Produce reports where required to document the work carried out

 

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will possess a passion for Engineering, with a result oriented and proactive mind-set. The successful candidate will have the chance to work on several exciting projects throughout their career with Alten, developing their engineering knowledge as a System Design engineer and a consultant.

Experience required:

  • Working knowledge of system/software requirements, requirements analysis, hardware architecture, databus communications, system interfaces, system architecture,  and embedded software testing at system integration level
  • A working appreciation of associated engineering disciplines.
  • An ability to interpret test results and provide an informed opinion or conclusion as to the outcome of the analysis. This includes an understanding of measurement uncertainty.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage tasks to completion ensuring that the relevant areas of the business are appropriately informed.
  • Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment or as a sole contributor on projects
  • Test script development
  • Black box testing

Tools

  • PTC Integrity or similar tool for configuration management and change control.
  • Matlab / Simulink, SCADE or other model based development tools – Not Mandatory
  • Reqtify or similar traceability tools.
  • Standard Microsoft packages – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Hardware requirements testing

 Qualifications required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or higher (Aeronautical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science)
