We are seeking Systems Design Engineers to join our Cheadle or Crawley team in the Defence sector. If you have a background in systems design and network/software exposure, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze customer requirements to establish baselines and ensure comprehensive version control.
  • Develop robust systems solutions that meet stringent requirements for hardware, software, and complex systems of systems.
  • Propose innovative solutions to meet URD requirements and achieve successful buy-off.
  • Capture, document, and manage technical and project risks, ensuring timely mitigation strategies.
  • Lead the integration of systems architecture, ensuring coherence and compatibility across subsystems.
  • Perform trade-off analysis to optimize system performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct system validation and verification to ensure all requirements are met and systems are fully operational.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align system designs with overall project goals and timelines.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of system design processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

 

Domain Experience:

  • Defence experience related to surface ships or submarines, preferably with SONAR or sensors.
  • Other industries considered: Automotive, Nuclear, Medical, Networking, Oil & Heavy Industry.

Technical Skills:

  • Systems Design: Context and complexity, SysML and UML diagrams, systems architecture design.
  • Systems Safety: Concept generation and design integrity.
  • Development Lifecycle: Execution and management.
  • Requirements Management: Elicitation, derivation, decomposition, and analysis.
  • Tools: DOORS, Other Requirements Management Tools, PALMA or other PLM tools, JIRA, Agile methodology.

Location & Availability:

  • Based in Cheadle or Crawley.
  • 2/3 days per week on-site initially until established, with flexibility thereafter.

Security Clearance:

  • Candidates must have lived in the UK for at least 5 years with no gaps of 3+ consecutive months to be eligible for security clearance.
