What will you be doing?

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for the concept design, prototyping, and development of the mechanical elements of electronic devices. Your role will involve creating new ideas from scratch, designing and validating electro-mechanical systems, and ensuring the reliability and performance of our products through rigorous testing and validation.

Key Responsibilities:

Concept Design of the Mechanical Elements of Electronic Devices:

  • Generate innovative ideas and designs starting from a blank sheet.
  • Create prototypes using 3D printing technology.
  • Develop detailed 3D designs using Solidworks.
  • Perform stress analysis and finite element analysis (FEA) using ANSYS.
  • Produce precise 2D drafting for manufacturing and assembly.

Electro-Mechanical Systems Design:

  • Design and integrate motors, stepper motors, and motor controllers into electronic systems.
  • Develop enclosure designs ensuring proper sealing and protection of electronic housings.
  • Integrate electronic components within mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance.

Test and Validation:

  • Conduct environmental tests to validate the durability and performance of designs.
  • Design test rigs to simulate real-world conditions and ensure product reliability.
  • Perform thorough testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve any issues.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in concept design, prototyping, and 3D design (Solidworks).
  • Proficiency in stress analysis and FEA (ANSYS).
  • Experience with 2D drafting for manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems design, including motors and motor controllers.
  • Experience in enclosure design and electronics housing.
  • Familiarity with environmental testing and test rig design.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the marine electronics industry.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
