What will you be doing? 

As an Electronics Hardware Engineer, you will support the design, development, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware for our products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of electronic components into our devices. Your expertise in one or more of the key skill areas will be critical in advancing our product capabilities and maintaining our market-leading position.

Key Responsibilities:

Electronics Hardware Design:

  • Design and develop PCBs, ensuring optimal component selection and layout.
  • Address component obsolescence and identify suitable replacements.
  • Integrate digital electronics and ensure robust performance.
  • Select appropriate electronic components and chips for various applications.
  • Design and integrate transducers and other electro-mechanical devices.
  • Work on mechanical integration to ensure seamless device operation.
  • Develop and implement microcontroller-based solutions.

Electronics Test and Troubleshooting:

  • Design and develop test benches for hardware testing.
  • Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting of electronic hardware to ensure reliability and performance.

Firmware Development:

  • Participate in board bring-up and initial hardware validation.
  • Develop low-level programming solutions for hardware interaction.
  • Write and debug embedded C code for microcontrollers.
  • Work with VHDL/FPGA for hardware acceleration and specific applications.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: PCB Design/Layout, Electronic Component/Chip Selection, Transducers, Mechanical Integration, Electro-Mechanical Devices, Microcontrollers, Electronics Test and Troubleshooting, Firmware Development.
  • Proficiency in digital electronics design and low-level programming.
  • Familiarity with test bench design and development.
  • Experience with embedded C, VHDL/FPGA is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the marine electronics industry.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
