We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our Defence Tactical Services team, working on advanced ship-based network systems. This role offers the chance to work on critical tactical projects, ensuring seamless and secure communication between systems in a high-stakes defence environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain systems and software for ship network operations.
• Program in C++ to optimize network functionalities and enhance performance.
• Implement and manage Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) to monitor and control network devices.
• Ensure reliable communication using TCP/UDP protocols in a secure, high-performance defence network.
• Troubleshoot and maintain network systems to ensure the ship’s tactical operations run smoothly.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to meet the complex security and performance standards required in the defence sector.

• 3+ years of experience in network engineering or programming, ideally in networks or defence systems.
• Strong proficiency in Windows Networking with expertise in TCP/UDP protocols.
• Hands-on experience with C++ programming and managing SNMP for network monitoring and control.
• Familiarity with secure, mission-critical networking in defence or tactical systems.
• British citizen, eligible for security clearance (essential for the role).
• Ability to work onsite in Glasgow or Reading/Crawley 3 days a week (hybrid model).
