Job Description

Position Overview:

The Functional Safety Expert will play a pivotal role in guiding and managing our team to ensure adherence to safety and regulatory requirements within the BMS domain. This position requires a high level of expertise in functional safety, a thorough understanding of UK standards, and extensive experience with battery systems. The ideal candidate will have the skills to manage and direct a team, ensuring that all safety protocols are meticulously followed and documented.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the functional safety activities within the BMS team.
  • Ensure compliance with UK safety standards and regulations.
  • Develop and enforce functional safety requirements for high and low voltage battery systems.
  • Collaborate with marketing, commercial teams, and clients to define macro requirements.
  • Set detailed requirements for hardware, software, production, and validation.
  • Oversee the testing and validation processes to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation and safety reports.
  • Provide guidance on ISO26262 standards and ensure its implementation.
  • Act as a technical advisor for safety-related issues and regulatory compliance.
  • Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • MUST HAVE experience with battery systems.
  • MUST HAVE understanding of UK standards.
  • MUST BE experienced in functional safety.
  • 7+ years of experience in relevant fields.
  • Strong background in BMS, including setting and managing requirements for HW, SW, and production.
  • In-depth knowledge of functional safety standards, particularly ISO26262.
  • Experience in both high and low voltage systems.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation and safety reporting.
  • Excellent team management and leadership skills.
  • Good soft skills, including effective communication and collaboration.
  • Basic understanding of software, electrical and electronics systems, and systems-level design and validation.
