Job Description

What will you be doing? 

We are looking for a Battery Test & Validation Engineer to join our growing automotive team. In this role, you will have hands-on involvement in testing and validating battery components, performing environmental and performance assessments, and developing strategies to enhance battery energy management.

Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of battery energy management components according to industry standards and company specifications.
  • Ensure all tests meet quality, safety, and performance criteria, adhering to best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform shaker and vibration testing to evaluate the durability and resilience of batteries under various environmental conditions.
  • Use data collected during tests to identify potential weaknesses and provide recommendations for design improvements.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans to evaluate battery systems, utilizing anemometers to measure and analyse air flow dynamics.
  • Use airflow data to assess cooling efficiency and thermal management of battery components, ensuring optimal energy performance.
  • Create and maintain detailed Design Verification (DV) test reports, documenting all test procedures, results, and findings.
  • Provide insights and suggestions based on data analysis to inform design decisions and enhance system performance.

Qualifications

Experience, skills and qualifications required: 

  • Bachelors’s degree in a related engineering discipline.
  • Valid UK driving license with access to a car.
  • Solid understanding of power unit engineering, including components and systems.
  • Experienced in system design and validation.
  • Proficient with tools such as CANanlyser, INCA, and Glyphworks for data acquisition and analysis.
